Excel Err Msg: Clipboard Contents Can't Be Pasted As Slide

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 4.0, 4.0a
  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, version 4.0

SUMMARY

If you try to copy an embedded chart containing attached text into a Slide Show, you will receive the following error message:

   The Contents of the Clipboard cannot be pasted as a slide.

This error message will occur when you select the chart only.

To avoid this error message, do either of the following:

  • Select and copy the range of cells under the graphic (this procedure is explained on page 520 of "User's Guide 1," version 4.0). -or-
  • Copy the embedded chart as a picture. To copy the chart as a picture:

    1. Click the embedded chart to select it.

    2. Press and hold down the SHIFT key.

    3. From the Edit menu, choose Copy Picture.
