The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft MS-DOS operating system versions 6.0 and 6.2

Microsoft MS-DOS versions 6.0 and 6.2 refer to a file called “Mirror” in an error message. This message occurs when a floppy disk is too full to save UNFORMAT information.

The Mirror file is used by UNFORMAT to recover data from a recently formatted floppy disk. The Mirror reference is a remnant of MS-DOS 5.0, which provides a program called MIRROR.
