MS-DOS

The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft MS-DOS operating system versions 6.0 and 6.2

SYMPTOMS

The DoubleSpace maintenance program (DBLSPACE.EXE) may appear to stop responding (hang) when you start the program or when you type “dblspace /list” (without the quotation marks) at the MS-DOS command prompt. If you wait long enough (five to ten minutes) DoubleSpace continues.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the Traveling Software LapLink III device driver (DD.EXE) is resident in memory.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, restart your computer and press F8 when you see the “Starting MS-DOS…” prompt. When you are prompted to load DD.EXE, press N.
