The information in this article applies to:

  • == Microsoft PowerPoint for the Macintosh, version 3.0 4.0 ==

SUMMARY

When you save a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation as a Scrapbook file, the maximum size allowed by the System 7 Scrapbook is 16 megabytes (MB). Files larger than 16 MB cannot be saved as a single Scrapbook file.

NOTE: The size of a presentation in Scrapbook file format is often much larger than its size in a PowerPoint format. The size increases because shaded fills need to be rendered in a way that can be imported into other programs.

MORE INFORMATION

Images saved in the Scrapbook file format are saved as separate resources into the resource fork of the file. The total size for those resources cannot exceed 16 MB. This limit applies regardless of the number of resources in the file.

For example, under System 7.1, the sample Greates2.ppt file increases in size as follows:

PowerPoint 3.0: PowerPoint 4.0:

GREATES2.PPT 237 KB GREATES2.PPT 272 KB GREATES2.SCR 858 KB GREATES2.SCR 1000 KB
