SUMMARY

Custom changes made to the color palette in Graph will not be used by PowerPoint.

MORE INFORMATION

When you create a new chart in PowerPoint, any custom changes made to the default graph are ignored. In addition, if the palette for a graph object has been customized, PowerPoint will ignore those custom settings unless the Recolor Graph option to have the graph follow only the text and background colors has been selected.

If you have created a graph object with a custom palette that you want to use in additional charts in PowerPoint, you can do the following:

  1. Run Graph and create a chart and make the desired changes to the color pallet.
  2. From the File menu in Graph, choose Set As Default Chart.
  3. From the File menu, choose Update.
  4. From the File menu, choose Quit And Return To <your chart>, where <your chart> is the name of your chart.
  5. Select the chart.
  6. From the Edit menu, choose Duplicate.
  7. Select the new chart.
  8. From the Object menu, choose Recolor Graph.
  9. Select Follow Text and Background Colors. Choose OK.
  10. Double-click the chart to launch Graph and make any changes you want to the chart. It will now use the colors you defined in the color pallet.

Charts created using this method can be pasted into other presentations and will retain their custom colors. They can then be used to launch Graph, and their colors will serve as the default colors for any additional graphs created in those presentations.
