PUB2: Section Breaks in WinWord Document Lost

PUB2: Section Breaks in WinWord Document Lost

Q103491

-------------------------------------------------------------------
The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft Publisher for Windows, versions 2.0, 2.0a
 - Microsoft Word for Windows, version 2.0
-------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

When you import text from Word for Windows into Publisher 2.0, text
following Next Page section breaks in Word for Windows may be lost.
Text following Continuous section breaks in Word for Windows is
retained. This can result in many pages of the Word for Windows
document not being imported into Publisher 2.0.

MORE INFORMATION
================

Steps to Reproduce the Problem
------------------------------

1. Create a Word for Windows 2.0 document.

2. From the Insert menu, choose Break and then select the Next
   Page option to insert a Next Page section break into the document.

3. Save the file as TEST.DOC.

4. Open or switch to Microsoft Publisher 2.0.

5. Draw a text frame.

6. From the File menu in Publisher, choose the Import Text command and
   select the Word for Windows file TEST.DOC to import the text.

7. Any text following the Next Page section break does not import into
   the document.

Deleting the Next Page section break does not seem to allow the text
to then be imported.

NOTE: On the imported text in Publisher, a section sign () may appear
instead of the actual text.
