WINDOWS | MACINTOSH

The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Project for Windows, versions 1.0, 3.0, 3.0a - Microsoft Project for the Macintosh, versions 1.1, 3.0

When you install Microsoft Project, a default view is copied from the Setup disk to your hard drive. The view file is installed in the startup folder or directory.

In this version of Microsoft Project The view file is called
---------------------------------------------------------------

For Windows VIEW.MPV.
Version 1.1 for the Macintosh MICROSOFT PROJECT VIEWS
Version 3.0 for the Macintosh VIEWS

If the default view file is renamed or deleted, Microsoft Project will create another view file (VIEW.MPV, MICROSOFT PROJECT VIEWS, or VIEWS). This new view file will not contain the Tracking Gantt or Detail Gantt and there will only be eight out of an original 19 macros available.

NOTE: Microsoft Project 1.0 for Windows and Microsoft Project 1.1 for the Macintosh do not support macros.

After the default view file is renamed or deleted, the following macros are no longer available:

Combine Projects Copy Data Create Object First Window Format Report Last Window? Paste Data in Last Windows Rollup Bars Rollup Milestone Rollup Formatting Size PERT Nodes

WORKAROUND

Microsoft Project for Windows

To restore the views and macros for Microsoft Project for Windows, copy and rename the file BACKUP.MPV to VIEW.MPV, or recopy VIEW.MPV from the Setup disk 1.

Microsoft Project for the Macintosh

Make a duplicate (COMMAND + D) of the BACKUP VIEWS file and change its name to VIEWS for version 3.0 and MICROSOFT PROJECT VIEWS for version 1.1.
