- Microsoft Project for the Macintosh, version 3.0

SUMMARY

Time Line for Windows version 1.0.0, by Symantec Corporation, contains a utility to convert Microsoft Project for Windows .MPX files into Time Line for Windows files. You cannot use this utility to convert Microsoft Project for the Macintosh .MPX files.

When you run this utility, you may receive the following error message:

Unrecognized MPX record type

This error message may be caused by the difference between how a text file is created in the Macintosh operating system versus how it is created in the Microsoft Windows operating system. When you open the Microsoft Project for the Macintosh .MPX file in Windows Notepad, the file appears jumbled because Notepad does not recognize carriage return and linefeed characters.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, open the .MPX file in Microsoft Project for Windows and save it in .MPX format. When you open this file in Notepad it will appear as expected.

NOTE: When you open a Macintosh .CSV text file in Microsoft Excel for Windows and then save it as a text file, the conversion utility still has difficulty translating various records.

Time Line for Windows is manufactured by Symantec Corporation, a vendor independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this product’s performance or reliability.
