Excel: Workbook Settings Are Not Saved with Save Command

The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel for Windows versions 4.0, 4.0a
- Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh version 4.0
Saving a workbook file in Microsoft Excel, version 4.0, using the Save command from the File menu, will not save the workbook's display settings. These settings determine how the workbook will be displayed when you open it. These settings include: window position in the workspace, the sheet that is displayed, and the location of the active cell.
If you want to save the current position and size of a workbook window or have the workbook open to a specific sheet or cell address, you must use the Save Workbook command on the File menu. Using the Save command only saves the spreadsheet contents, not the display attributes of the workbook itself.
