SUMMARY

You can remove or replace pictures from the Microsoft Scenes default picture sets. You can also add a picture from one set of Microsoft Scenes pictures to another.

MORE INFORMATION

Removing Pictures

To remove pictures from the default sets:

  1. Find the filename of the picture you want to remove.

  2. Delete that file from the directory.

  3. Edit the PICSET.INI file and change the PICTURECOUNT line to reflect the number of pictures after you remove the one you do not want.

  4. Find the line with the filename that you are removing and delete that line.

  5. Change the number in brackets for all the files following the line you removed so that they are in sequential order. For example, if you remove line [12], you would change [13] to [12], [14] to [13], and so forth.

  6. Edit the ENU.INI file following step 5 above.

NOTE: The line number corresponds to the first two characters of the filename.

  7. Quit and then restart Scenes to enable the changes.

Replacing Default Pictures

To replace a default picture from the default sets:

  1. Find the filename of the picture you want to remove.
  2. Delete that file from the directory.
  3. Copy the new picture into the directory of the picture set in which you now want the picture.
  4. Edit the PICSET.INI file and change the line of the picture you removed to reflect the name of the new picture.
  5. Edit the ENU.INI file from the original directory of the new picture and find the description. Write this information down.
  6. Edit the ENU.INI file in the directory you copied the file to. Change the description of the picture you removed to the description in step 5.
  7. Quit and then restart Scenes to enable the changes.

To Add a Picture

  1. Copy the picture to the appropriate directory (for example, from C:to C:).

  2. Edit the PICSET.INI file in the directory in which you just copied the picture(s).

  3. Change the PICTURECOUNT line to read 48 plus the number of pictures you are adding to the PICSET. For example, if you are adding one picture, change the PICTURECOUNT line to 49.

  4. Add the name of the picture(s) that you are adding to the end of the PICSET.INI file. The lines should be similar to the following:

    [49] Action=1 1.Input=<picset>*.jpg

The <picset> is set to the default picset directory.

  5. Continue adding the other pictures following the lines above, but incrementing the number in brackets.

  6. Edit the ENU.INI file in the original PICSET directory. Look for the number that corresponds to the first two numbers of the file(s) you copied over. Write this information down, then delete the lines that correspond to the pictures you copied.

  7. Go to the new directory and edit the ENU.INI file. Locate the “48=<description>” line, then add the following information for each picture you copied:

    49=<description> 50=<description> etc…

where <description> is the same description used in step 6.

  8. Save all files.

  9. Exit and then restart Scenes to enable the changes.

NOTE: When you change the wallpaper in Scenes, the new picture(s) do not appear. These “pictures” are stored in .CAT files and cannot be changed.
