Q102778

-------------------------------------------------------------------
The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft Publisher for Windows, versions 2.0, 2.0a
-------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

If you attempt to activate a link that is no longer valid, you will
receive the following error message:

Unable to launch or communicate with server application.

Publisher is unable to open the application needed to complete
this task. Your system may be low on memory. Save your work and
close any other applications to free up memory, and then try again.
If you've already done this, the application may not be accessible.
Press F1 now if you want more information.

This message is incorrect. You should instead receive a message
indicating that the link is invalid and that you must reconnect the
link.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Publisher version 2.0.
We are researching this problem and will post new information here in
the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
