The information in this article applies to:

  • == Microsoft Works for the Macintosh, versions 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0 ==

SYMPTOMS

The Microsoft Works spelling checker does not catch double punctuation errors within text.

For example:

Henry said,, "“The laxy brown fox jumped over the big dog!!”

In the previous example, Works does not catch the double commas, double quotation marks, or the double exclamation points. It will, however, check the text and find, in this example, “laxy”.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Works versions 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0 for the Macintosh. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
