SYMPTOMS
The following error message is generated when you use the Publisher spelling checker if your CUSTOM.DIC file does not end with a carriage return character:
Can’t load speller or dictionary.
Publisher can’t load the speller or dictionary. Run the Setup program again and choose Custom installation to Install the Spell Checker and Hyphenation. Press F1 now if you want more information on running Setup.
If you choose OK, the spell checker will run, but you won’t be able to add words to the dictionary (the Add button will be unavailable.)
RESOLUTION
To corrected this problem, open CUSTOM.DIC in a text editor such as Notepad, move the cursor to the end of the file, press ENTER, and save the file.
