Setup Fails on System with Proliant Storage Cabinet

SYMPTOMS

The text-mode portion of Setup may fail with a Trap error (0x0000000D) while scanning partitions on machines using the external Compaq Proliant drive cabinet.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, turn off the Proliant drive cabinet during the text-mode portion of Windows NT Setup, and then turn it back on after Setup has installed Windows NT and reboots.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.10. We are researching this problem and will post new information in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

The Proliant Storage Cabinet is manufactured by Compaq Computer, a vendor independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this product's performance or reliability.
