Building a Formula for Internal Rate of Return PSS ID Number: Q10248 Article last modified on 01-13-1989 PSS database name: D_MPlan

1.20

MS-DOS

Summary: The method of building a formula for Internal Rate of Return (IRR) described on Page 413 of the “Microsoft Multiplan” manual for Version 1.20 will not work correctly because it contains more characters than are allowed in a formula. Although the formula is mathematically correct, it cannot be used because it is too long. If this formula is entered, you will receive the following error messages:

"command too long" and "field has too many words"

Beginning with Version 2.00, Multiplan contains a formula for IRR, so there is no need to manually define the formula anymore.
