SYMPTOMS

Applications created with Visual Basic 3.0 cause general protection (GP) faults on RISC-based computers.

CAUSE

The GP faults are caused by a problem in the Visual Basic 3.0 run-time dynamic link library (DLL) file. This problem occurs only in standard mode in Windows 3.1 and in Windows NT on RISC-based computers.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the VBRUN300.DLL file. To correct this problem, obtain an updated version of VBRUN300.DLL from the MSBASIC CompuServe forum.
