PUB2: OLE Object Appears Blank After Failed Update
Q102109
------------------------------------------------------------------- The information in this article applies to: - Microsoft Publisher for Windows, versions 2.0, 2.0a ------------------------------------------------------------------- SYMPTOMS ======== If an update of an embedded (OLE) object fails, Publisher may show a blank frame where the object used to be. The object is still there, but Publisher is not displaying it. Publisher should display a message indicating that the object is still there, even though it appears to be blank. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Publisher versions 2.0 and 2.0a. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available. RESOLUTION ========== To cause the object to display correctly again, follow these steps: 1. Save and close the publication. 2. Open the publication again. 3. Activate (double-click) the embedded object. 4. Exit from the OLE server. The object should now display correctly. MORE INFORMATION ================ If an update of an embedded object fails, due to low memory or for any other reason, Publisher abandons the edits you made and returns to the previous version of the embedded object.
