Excel: Unexpected Output Printing 3-D Pie to LaserWriter LS

SYMPTOMS

When you print a 3-D pie chart from Microsoft Excel to an Apple Personal LaserWriter LS, if the chart wedge is formatted with a white foreground and a white background, you may receive unexpected results in the printed output.

Microsoft Excel Version 4.0

In Microsoft Excel 4.0, when you print a 3-D chart that is formatted with a white foreground and background and a custom pattern, the shading that is added to the height of the pie wedge will extend up into the surface of the pie wedge. The amount of shading on the wedge varies depending on the wedge size.

Microsoft Excel Version 3.0

In Microsoft Excel 3.0, with the formatting described above, shading that is added to the height of the pie wedge will extend up to cover the surface of the pie wedge.

STATUS

We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

NOTE: This problem does not occur with Microsoft Excel 2.2 because it does not support 3-D charts.
