Article ID: 101794

Article Last Modified on 11/24/2003

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Works 2.0 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Works 2.0a
  • Microsoft Works 3.0 Standard Edition

This article was previously published under Q101794

SYMPTOMS

Works for Windows will display a "Divide by Zero" or an "Integer divide by zero" error message after you choose Print Preview when all of the following conditions exist:

  • IBM 4029 Accelerator printer driver is selected in Printer Setup.
  • Executive Paper Size (7 1/2 X 10 1/2 in) is selected in Printer Setup.

NOTE: This error will not occur when printing the document, only when previewing it.

WORKAROUND

Use the standard IBM 4029 printer driver (not the Accelerator).

NOTE: If the Divide by Zero Error message appears when you first open Works immediately after installing it, test this problem by changing to the Generic/Text only printer driver. If this corrects the problem, either reinstall the current printer driver or install the newest version of the current printer driver.

For more information about installing a printer driver, refer to your "Microsoft Windows User's Guide."

Lexmark has confirmed this to be a problem with its IBM 4029 Accelerator printer driver. To obtain information on updated drivers, contact Lexmark technical support at (606) 232-3000.

The printer drivers included here are manufactured by a vendor independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding these products' performance or reliability.
