PRB: Can't Edit OLE Objects on Screen with Active READ

ID: Q101294

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FoxPro for Windows, versions 2.5 and 2.5a

SYMPTOMS

You cannot edit an OLE object (stored in a general field) in a screen with an active READ.

CAUSE

A MODIFY GENERAL command was never issued for the OLE object.

RESOLUTION

Use one of the following methods to resolve this problem:

Method 1

1. Use the Field tool to create a general field on the screen.

2. Select the WHEN clause and enter the command MODIFY GENERAL

<fieldname> in the code snippet area as a PROCEDURE.

3. Save the screen changes and regenerate the screen and/or

   application.

Method 2

1. Use the Picture tool to put a picture of the general field on the

   screen.

2. Add an invisible button that covers the entire picture. The

invisible button should have a WHEN clause PROCEDURE that says
   MODIFY GENERAL <fieldname>.

3. Save the screen changes and regenerate the screen and/or

   application.

Either of the above methods will allow you to edit bitmaps within the screen when the application is running. Additional reference words: FoxWin 2.50 2.50a BMP MODIFY GENERAL OLE KBCategory: kbole kbprg kbprb KBSubcategory: FxinteropOle
