MXL4: Macro Error when You Run a Recorded Solver Macro

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, version 4.0

SYMPTOMS

When you run a recorded macro that includes commands from the Microsoft Excel Solver, you may receive a macro error in the first cell of the macro.

CAUSE

This macro error occurs because, when the macro is recorded, the name of the Solver Add-in macro is not enclosed in single quotation marks.

WORKAROUND

To avoid this macro error, manually remove the filename from each line of recorded macro code.

Example

If your macro code looks like the following

   =Solver Add-in!SOLVER.OK(!$A$3,3,25,(!$A$2))
   =Solver Add-in!SOLVER.SOLVE()
   =RETURN()

remove the filenames, so that the macro resembles the following:

   =SOLVER.OK(!$A$3,3,25,(!$A$2))
   =SOLVER.SOLVE()
   =RETURN()
