BUG: Docerr: Maximum Value of Global Variable @@NESTLEVEL Is 16

Last reviewed: April 28, 1997
Article ID: Q100916

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft SQL Server version 4.2 for OS/2
  • Microsoft SQL Server, version 4.2

BUG# 8804 (4.2) The global variable @@NESTLEVEL stores the nesting level of current execution and is incremented each time a stored procedure calls another stored procedure. On page 275 of the "Language Reference" manual, it is incorrectly implied that the maximum nesting level of execution is 32. The correct maximum value of @@NESTLEVEL is 16, as correctly stated on page 146 of the same document.
