SUMMARY
In a Microsoft Works database or spreadsheet, fields or cells formatted as dates do not convert from Windows to the Macintosh environment (and vice versa) correctly because the Macintosh and Windows systems serialize on different starting dates.

Even though a date may be entered in a date format, a cell or field in Works that is designated as type “date” stores the data as a serial number. This number is based on the internal clock, which is defined with different starting dates. For example:
Macintosh Environment ———————
0 = 1/1/1904 33000 = 5/8/1994
Windows Environment ——————-
1 = 1/1/1900 33000 = 5/7/1990
Because the two systems start on different dates, any date-formatted data will not convert cross-platform correctly.
Dates will convert correctly between Works 3.0 for the Macintosh to Works 2.0 or 3.0 for Windows. If the file was created in Works 4.0 for the Macintosh, save it as a Works 3.0 for the Macintosh document before converting the file to Works for 2.0 or 3.0 Windows.
