WINDOWS

The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows, version 3.0 - Microsoft Word for Windows, version 2.0

SYMPTOMS

When you insert an outline from version 2.0 of Microsoft Word for Windows, the capitalized-character formatting may not be retained if the characters were capitalized by applying the All Caps options in the Format Character dialog box.

CAUSE

Because there is no All Caps character formatting in PowerPoint, this formatting is not retained in PowerPoint.

WORKAROUND

  1. Open the outline in Word for Windows.

  2. Select the text that was formatted with the All Caps option.

  3. From the Format menu, choose Character and clear the All Caps check box.

  4. Select the text you want to be formatted as all capital letters. Press SHIFT+F3 until all the text is in capital characters.

(Pressing SHIFT+F3 toggles between all capital, all lowercase, and initial-capitalized characters.)

  5. Save the file.

  6. Insert this outline in PowerPoint 3.0. The capitalized characters will be retained.
