SUMMARY

The MS-DOS 6.0 and 6.2 original equipment manufacturer (OEM) boot-sector identification tag is "MSDOS5.0," the same as for MS-DOS 5.0.

MS-DOS 6.0 and 6.2 use the same boot-sector identification tag as MS-DOS 5.0 to maintain compatibility with some third-party programs. When you use the VER command or interrupt 21h function 3306h (Get MS-DOS Version) to check the version, MS-DOS reports the correct verison number.
