Windows Internet Explorer (known before as Microsoft Internet Explorer) is a Web Internet browser created by Microsoft for the Windows operating system.

Criticism

Internet Explorer has been criticized by many people for it's poor compliance of web standards and it's support for in-page ActiveX controls, amongst other things such as lack of updates. In recent years, Microsoft has attempted to rectify most of the problems, with releases such as Internet Explorer 8 and the upcoming Internet Explorer 9. Internet Explorer 9 will feature HTML5 support.
