SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You use one of the Microsoft wireless pointing devices that are listed in the "Applies To" section on a Windows Vista-based computer. When the computer is running, you unplug the wireless receiver or transceiver, and then you plug the wireless receiver or transceiver back in. You use the wireless pointing device to try to scroll in a window.

In this scenario, you cannot scroll vertically. When you try to scroll horizontally, the window scrolls quickly.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, download and then install the latest version of the Microsoft IntelliPoint software. The latest version of IntelliPoint contains the update that addresses this issue.

To download and then install the latest version of the IntelliPoint software, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the following Microsoft Web site:
  2. On the left side of the screen, under Resources, click Downloads.
  3. Click Software for Microsoft keyboard, mouse, and fingerprint reader products.
  4. On the Download Mouse and Keyboard Software page, select the product, the operating system, and the operating system language, and then click Go.
  5. Click the software link, and then follow the instructions that appear on the screen to download the software.
  6. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to install the IntelliPoint software.
  7. Restart the computer.
