Small Business Accounting 2006 depends on the Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (also known as MSDE 2000) as the database provider. However, MSDE 2000 is not supported by the Windows Vista operating system. Therefore, Small Business Accounting 2006 cannot operate correctly on a computer that has Windows Vista installed.
You may encounter the following compatibility scenarios.
Scenario 1
When you try to install Small Business Accounting 2006 on a computer that is running Windows Vista, you receive one of the following error messages.

If you click Check for solutions online, you are directed to a Web page that has additional support options. If you click Run program, Small Business Accounting 2006 is installed. But Small Business Accounting will not operate correctly.
Scenario 2
Before you upgrade the existing operating system to Windows Vista, you receive the following message if you run the Windows Vista Compatibility Advisor:

You receive an error message if one of the following conditions is true:
- You upgrade your existing operating system to Windows Vista without running the Windows Upgrade Advisor, and you then try to start Small Business Accounting 2006.
- You upgrade to Windows Vista without removing Small Business Accounting 2006, and you then try to start Small Business Accounting 2006:
