SUMMARY
This article describes the German version of Microsoft Office 2003 issue that is fixed in the Office 2003 post-Service Pack 2 hotfix package that is dated March 8, 2007.

INTRODUCTION
Issue that the hotfix package fixes
This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
- The current hyphenation tool in Office 2003 implements an earlier reform rule for the German spelling rules. This earlier reform rule allows for one-vowel syllables to be separated during hyphenation. This hotfix resolves this issue.
Note The latest version of the German spelling rules prohibits the separation of one-vowel syllables at the beginning of a word or at the end of a word.
