SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Windows XP, when you try to connect to a network resource, the connection may time out. Additionally, you receive an error message that resembles the following:
For example, this problem may occur when you try to connect to a shared resource by using the server message block (SMB) protocol.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the redirector processes a corrupted record repeatedly.
RESOLUTION

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, follow these steps to disable client-side caching on the client computer:
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MRxSmb\Parameters
- In the results pane, right-click
CscEnabled
, and then click Modify. - Type 0 in the Value data box, and then click OK.
- Exit Registry Editor.
- Restart the computer.
