When you use a Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0-based device to synchronize messages with a mailbox on a server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, you receive an error message that resembles the following error message:


Note To view the error message, you may have to click View status and then click View Support Code on the Windows Mobile 5.0-based device.


This problem occurs because a bad e-mail message in the store is blocking the Exchange ActiveSync process.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix. However, the following services will be restarted:

  • The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service
  • The IIS Admin service and all dependent services
