A computer that is running Slovenian versions of Windows XP Home Edition does not use the High Contrast display mode when the system is running in reduced functionality mode

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a computer that is running one of the following versions of Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition:
    • The Slovenian version of Windows XP Home Edition for Subscription Computers
    • The Slovenian version of Windows XP Home Edition for Prepaid Computers
  • The operating system is running in reduced functionality mode.

When you log on to the computer in this scenario, the system does not use the High Contrast display mode as expected.

Note A system that is running in reduced functionality mode should always use the High Contrast display mode.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the display settings are overwritten by the default first logon settings.

STATUS

This is a known issue in Windows XP Home Edition for Subscription Computers and in Windows XP Home Edition for Prepaid Computers. This issue will be addressed in future releases.

MORE INFORMATION

When the system is running in reduced functionality mode, all reduced functionality mode policy settings and restrictions remain in effect. This is true despite the standard appearance of the display mode.
