INTRODUCTION
This article describes how to create virtual directories in the Microsoft SoftGrid Management Web Service.

When the SoftGrid Management Web Service is installed, it creates two virtual directories in the default Web site. These directories are named "SoftGridManagement" and "SoftGridReporting."
If these virtual directories are modified or removed, the SoftGrid Management Console cannot connect to the SoftGrid Management Web Service. In this case, you may have to re-create the virtual directories.
How to create the SoftGridManagement virtual directory
To do this, follow these steps in the SoftGrid Management Web Service server:
- Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
- Expand
server_name, expand Web Sites, and then expand Default Web Site. - Right-click Default Web Site, click New, and then click Virtual Directory.
- For Alias, type SoftGridManagement, and then click Next.
- For Path, click Browse.
- Expand %SystemDrive%, expand Program Files, and then expand Softricity.
- Select SoftGrid Management Service, click OK, and then click Next.
- Click to select the Run scripts (such as ASP) check box, click Next, and then click Finish.
- Right-click SoftGridManagement, and then click Properties.
- Click the Virtual Directory tab.
- For Application pool, click DefaultAppPool.
- Click the Directory Security tab.
- For Authentication and access control, click Edit.
- Click to select the Integrated Windows authentication check box.
- Click to clear the check box for all other methods.
- Click OK two times.
How to create the SoftGridReporting virtual directory
To do this, follow these steps in the SoftGrid Management Web Service server:
