Error message when you view the settings of a GPO in the Group Policy Management Console: "The .adm file '{UID}' is not in a valid format and must be replaced"

SYMPTOMS

On a computer that has Desktop Standard Policy Maker installed, you receive the following error message when you view the settings of a Group Policy object (GPO) in the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC):

The .adm file "{UID}" is not in a valid format and must be replaced. Details: A string is expected at line LineNumber.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the GPMC cannot correctly parse some values in the administrative template.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, upgrade to PolicyMaker 2.5.2.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem does not occur when you use Group Policy Object Editor or when you use Resultant Set of Policy. This problem does not prevent clients from processing the Group Policy settings.
