When you try to start an application in Microsoft SoftGrid, you receive the following error message:

The SoftGrid Client could not launch application.
An unexpected error occurred. Please report the following error code to your System Administrator.
Error code: xxxxxx-xxxxxx0A-0000E005

When this problem occurs, an entry that resembles the following is logged in the SoftGrid Client log file (Sftlog.txt):

The SoftGrid client could not connect to stream URL 'protocol://server:port/path/filename.sft' (FS status: xxxxxx0A-0000E005).
The client was unable to connect to a SoftGrid server (rc xxxxxx0A-0000E005)

Additionally, an entry that resembles the following is logged in the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server log file (Sft-server.log):

41486 "Invalid chunk size: xxxxxx bytes."

This problem may occur because your personal settings file (UsrVol_sftfs_v1.pkg) is corrupted. This file is in the following folder:

%appdata%\SoftGrid Client\Package

Note Package is a placeholder for a folder whose name varies depending on the program that you have installed.

To resolve the problem, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click SoftGrid Client Management.
  2. Expand SoftGrid on localhost, and then click Applications.
  3. Right-click the application that reports the error code, and then click Repair.
  4. When you receive the following message, click Yes:

This will reset your personal settings for application to their default values. Your personal settings will be lost. Are you sure you want to continue?

  5. Exit SoftGrid Client Management.

This process deletes your personal settings file. The next time that you start the application, the application creates a new personal settings file.
