SYMPTOMS
During the installation of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Microsoft Office Outlook, the Setup program cannot install the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 and the .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (SP1). Therefore, you cannot finish the installation of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the version of the .NET Framework 1.1 Setup program on the Setup CD is for a specific language. However, this language does not match the language that is used by the operating system on the computer on which you install the Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook. For example, if you install the United States English version of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook on a computer that is running the Indian English version of Microsoft Windows XP, this problem occurs.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, install the .NET Framework 1.1 and the .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 manually. Then, install the Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook. To install these items, use one of the following methods.
Method 1
Download the version of the .NET Framework 1.1 and the .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 that corresponds to the version of Windows that you are using. Then, install the Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook. To download the correct version of the .NET Framework 1.1 and the .NET Framework 1.1 SP1, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
Method 2
Install the .NET Framework 1.1 and the .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 by using the Setup CD that corresponds to the version of Windows that you are using. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open the dotNETFX folder on the Setup CD.
- Double-click the Dotnetfx.exe file, and then follow the steps in the wizard to complete the installation of the .NET Framework 1.1.
- Double-click the file that is used to install the .NET Framework 1.1 SP1, and then follow the steps in the wizard to complete the installation of the .NET Framework 1.1 SP1. For example, click the NDP1.1sp1-KB867460-X86-ENU.exe file if the Setup CD corresponds to the United States English version of Windows.
