In Windows Vista, a gadget that you downloaded from the Internet may appear to be installed correctly. However, the gadget does not appear in the Windows Sidebar as expected.
This issue occurs if the gadget does not support a language that is in the list of preferred languages for the current user.
This behavior is by design.
If a language for the gadget is not installed, the gadget does not appear in the Windows Sidebar. Typically, this issue occurs when the Japanese, French, or German version of Windows Vista is installed.
To help resolve this issue, ask the gadget developer to supply the language for the gadget.
Note You may be able to resolve this issue by installing a language pack that includes a language that matches the language in the gadget. For more information about how to install more languages, see Windows Help and Support.
