SYMPTOMS

When you update keywords, ratings, and other metadata information in Windows Photo Gallery or in Windows Live Photo Gallery, the updated information may not appear when you view the file in a different program.

CAUSE

This issue may occur when one or more of the following conditions are true:

  • The file is read-only.
  • The file type does not support metadata.
  • Windows Photo Gallery or Windows Live Photo Gallery cannot write to the file for another reason.


MORE INFORMATION

When you update metadata information in Windows Photo Gallery or in Windows Live Photo Gallery, the information is saved in Windows Photo Gallery or in Windows Live Photo Gallery. This information is available in Windows Photo Gallery or in Windows Live Photo Gallery even when the conditions that are described in the "Cause" section are true. Therefore, if updated metadata information does not appear in a different program, you can still view the information in Windows Photo Gallery or in Windows Live Photo Gallery.
