SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You try to migrate a user from a UNIX password file to the Active Directory directory service on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2-based computer. To do this, you use one of the following methods:

  • You use the nis2ad command-line tool together with the -r option.
  • You use the NIS Data Migration Wizard.

In this scenario, you cannot migrate the user to Active Directory.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the following conditions are true:

  • A user in Active Directory has the same account name as a user in the UNIX password file. This problem occurs regardless of whether the user in Active Directory has the UNIX attributes enabled.
  • The value for the CN attribute of the account in Active Directory differs from the value of the samAccountName attribute.


RESOLUTION

Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
