You may unexpectedly receive an error message when the select function is called in Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX 3.5 or in Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications in Windows Server 2003 R2. This problem occurs if the select function receives null file descriptor parameters. The error message resembles the following:

You must have Windows Services for UNIX 3.5 installed or Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications in Windows Server 2003 R2 to apply this hotfix.
You must restart the computer because the POSIX subsystem is replaced when you apply this hotfix.
