SYMPTOMS
When you try to ungroup a group in a PivotTable in Microsoft Office Excel 2007, Excel closes unexpectedly. Additionally, you receive the following message:
When you click OK to continue with the undo, you receive the following error message:
When you click OK to close the error message dialog box, you receive the following error message:
When you view the data in the error report, you see an error signature that resembles the following error signature:

CAUSE
This issue may occur when the group in the PivotTable has the following Top/Bottom Rules conditional formatting applied:
- Top 10 Items
- Bottom 10 Items
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, use one of the following methods:
- Do not group items that have the Top 10 Items or Bottom 10 Items conditional formatting applied.
- When you must group items, apply a different conditional formatting to items in the PivotTable.
