SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You try to run the Vssconverter.exe utility to migrate a Microsoft Visual SourceSafe source control database to Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server. In this scenario, you may receive the following error message:

TF60096: Unable to migrate due to Team Foundation Error:
TF50605: There was an error looking up the SID for username.

This problem occurs after you modify the mapping of a user who does not have a valid account in the user map file.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server service pack that contains this hotfix.
