Maintenance message on your Zune device: "1: Connect Zune to your PC"

As you use your Zune device, the device appears to be nonfunctional. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

Connect Zune to your PC.


This behavior occurs then when the Zune device enters a recovery mode and requires that the Zune device software be restored.


Connect the Zune device to a computer that has the current Zune software installed, and then update the device to the current Zune device software.
