SYMPTOMS

When you try to put a portable computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP into hibernation or on standby, the computer may stop responding.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of an error in the Raspptp.sys file.

The Raspptp.sys file uses a process handle instead of a kernel handle. The Winlogon process owns this process handle. Therefore, before the computer enters hibernation or goes on standby, the Raspptp.sys file tries to free the process handle that the Winlogon process owns. This behavior causes the problem.
