This article describes how to restore media usage rights for songs in the Zune software library.

You may receive an error message that states that you do not have the media usage rights for a song that you purchased or downloaded from the Zune Marketplace. This behavior can occur even if you previously had the appropriate media usage rights.
Before you try to restore the media usage rights, verify that the song or songs that you want to restore have been removed from the Zune software library and from the computer. To resolve this issue, you can restore the appropriate usage rights from the Zune Marketplace. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open the Zune software.
- If you are not signed in, click Sign In, and then log in by using your Windows Live ID.
- Click Marketplace, and then click Downloads.
- To restore purchased content, follow these steps:
- Click Purchased, and then click Songs or Videos.
- Locate the content that you want to restore, and then click Download to restore individual tracks. Or, click Restore All to restore all the content.
- To restore subscription content, follow these steps:
- Click Subscription.
- Locate the content that you want to restore, and then click Download to restore individual tracks. Or, click Restore All to restore all the content.
