256986 Description of the Microsoft Windows registry

INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to modify the Pivot Table Services (PTS) connection-string properties in the following products if these products connect to a Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services cube:

  • ProClarity Analytics Server
  • ProClarity Desktop Professional
  • ProClarity Web Professional

MORE INFORMATION

Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.

When you log on to a computer that is running ProClarity Analytics Server, the ProClarity Desktop Professional client, or the ProClarity Web Professional client, the ProClarity program sets the source properties. The ProClarity program sets the source properties according to the string values of the registry entries in certain registry keys. Some string values of the registry entries are associated with the PTS connection-string properties.

To modify the PTS connection-string properties, you can set the string values of the registry entries in the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ProClarity Corporation\Server\Properties

To do this, create a registry entry in the Properties key for each PTS connection string property, and then set the string value of the registry entry. For example, if you want to force the connection to use the Kerberos protocol, create a registry entry that is named SSPI, and then set the string value of the registry entry to "Kerberos".

Notes

  • If you want to modify the PTS connection-string properties for the computer that is running ProClarity Analytics Server, you should create the following key on the server:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ProClarity Corporation\Server\Properties

  • If you want to modify the PTS connection-string properties for the ProClarity Desktop Professional client or for the ProClarity Web Professional client, you should create the following keys on the client:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ProClarity Corporation\Server
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ProClarity Corporation\Server\Properties

Then, set the string values of the registry entries in the Properties key.
