Error message that you may receive when you log off from Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 as you are playing an MP3 file in My Music: "Ending Program Ehshell.exe"

SYMPTOMS

You are playing an MP3 file in the My Music component of Media Center on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. You log off from the computer. When this happens, you may receive the following error message:

Ending Program
Ehshell.exe
End Now

For example, this problem can occur in the following scenario. You open the My Music component of Media Center. You play an MP3 file. You click the green Media Center Edition button at the top of the Media Center screen. You click the Shut Down button at the top of the Media Center screen, and then you click Log Off. In the Log Off Windows dialog box, you click Log Off.

This problem occurs only with some MP3 files. The problem does not occur with WMA files or with other media files.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, click End Now, or wait for the Media Center program (Ehshell.exe) to end. The Media Center program will end, and your account will log off successfully.
