Maximum File Size or Disk Space Quotas

Last reviewed: May 6, 1997
Article ID: Q92763

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows NT operating system version 3.1

There is no way to set maximum file size or disk space quotas, either per user or system wide.

One alternative is to use the performance monitor, which is found in the Administrative Tools group. It can monitor disk space usage and notify the administrator when the amount of disk space for the system goes below a certain percentage.
