SYMPTOMS

When you print a Microsoft Office Word 2007 document that contains a Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 slide, the document takes longer than expected to print. Additionally, the document may not print as expected. For example, it may print many more pages than expected, or it may print non-document text at the top of the pages.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Insert the slide as an object

To insert the slide as an object, follow these steps:

1. Save the presentation in PowerPoint 2007.
2. In the Word 2007 document, put the cursor where you want to insert the PowerPoint 2007 slide.
3. On the Insert tab, click Object in the Text group.
4. Click the Create from File tab.
5. Click Browse, locate and select the presentation that you saved in step 1, and then click Insert.
6. Click OK to close the Object dialog box.

Method 2: Paste the slide as a picture

To paste the slide as a picture, follow these steps:

1. In the PowerPoint 2007 presentation, click the slide, but do not select an object on the slide.
2. On the Home tab, click Select in the Editing group, and then click Select All.
3. On the Home tab, click Copy in the Clipboard group.
4. In the Word 2007 document, put the cursor where you want to insert the PowerPoint 2007 slide.
5. On the Home tab, click the arrow on the Paste button in the Clipboard group, and then click Paste Special.
6. In the Paste Special dialog box, click one of the following object types in the As box, and then click OK:
   • Picture (Windows Metafile)
   • Bitmap
   • Picture (Enhanced Metafile)
   • Picture (GIF)
   • Picture (PNG)
   • Picture (JPEG)
   • Microsoft Office Graphic Object

Method 3: Print to a different printer

Try to print the document to a different printer.

Note This issue may occur when you print to some printers.
