SYMPTOMS
When you try to access the Local Users and Groups snap-in in Microsoft Windows 2000, you receive the following error message in the right pane:
Additionally, a red X appears next to the Local Users and Groups node.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the Activeds.tlb file does not exist in the location that the registry specifies. By default, the registry specifies the following location for the Activeds.tlb file:
%SystemRoot%\System32
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, copy the Activeds.tlb file to the %SystemRoot%\System32 folder.
